About WaterFall Labs

Why Trust This Site's Advice and Information?

Experience

For starters, I have worked for two different pool companies over several years, becoming a General Manager of a store for 3 years before leaving and starting work in coding. Testing water, fixing equipment, helping customers find the product they need and teaching them the tricks of the trade... I've done all of that and more, so I know my way around this industry.

I Am Not Corporate — and I Have No Product to Sell

This site literally started off as a simple project to add to my portfolio as I try to get SunFall Forge, my one-man coding business, off the ground. But, me being me, I couldn't help becoming fully invested in something I committed to and now we here we are, with a functioning water test site filled with helpful information.

I am not selling cleaners, chemicals, or anything else, nor do I have any sponsors that are paying me to push their products. This gives me the freedom to give you the raw truth and tricks of the trade without having to worry about money being involved. This site makes revenue from subscriptions, so it is in my best interest to provide an experience that is user-friendly and helpful.

Pro-Consumer, Pro-Transparency

Even if it wasn't for that, I am very pro-consumer. After all, I am a consumer myself. I go to stores, I pay for services. I know the things I like and dislike from my experiences, so why the heck would I not use that to make a better experience for any of my clients? I feel that too many businesses are run by people who are disconnected and don't think about how the experience is for the customers and their ground level employees. It's all money and growth, money and growth, and sure, I get it, if you run a business, your goal would be that, but it shouldn't come at the expense of upsetting your customer or employee base.

Customer loyalty and trust goes a lot further than the quick sale ever will, and I stand by that. Even during my tenure as GM, I prioritized telling customers the truth of what they needed and what to do, rather than the upselling pitches the company wanted me to spit out, knowing full well that the customer didn't need it. The result was that people got to know me and know that I wasn't a scam artist, and they became my regulars, on a first-name basis, old-school, small town style. I'd rather deal with happy people in a neighborly way rather than as some detached corporate piece that deals with angry phone calls just because it makes money.

The Goal of WaterFall Labs

I want this site to be an extension of this mindset — built to help, not take advantage of. The water testing and core knowledge is not pay-walled, it's completely free. As a budding developer, however, every subscription would be a massive help for me to take care of myself and help improve this site as well as fund other projects I work on. In return, subscribed accounts will have additional quality of life features for them, such as saving your history and getting printable/email-able results pages that you can use for record keeping or submission to HOAs or whatever, among other things that has yet to be or has already been added.

Give the site a try. Like I said, the core elements are free. If you like it, consider subscribing to keep a record of your testing. It would help a lot, and I would genuinely appreciate it. Hope that whoever is reading this is having a great day, and that this site is a huge help to you :)
